This photo is of a Paralympic sprinter named Jarryd Wallace. I find this photo very motivational. The photo portrays that Jarryd faced many challenges, but he worked hard to overcome them. This photo also gives me hope, when he lost his leg he must have been terrified and heartbroken not knowing if he could ever run again. He worked, trained and fought hard to accomplish his goals he thought he would never reach.
The photographer, Robert Clark, used the rule of thirds when capturing this picture. Jarryd Wallace, the athlete, is not in the center of the photo which adds dramatic effect. This photo also dies not follow the rule of thirds because Jarryd is facing/running out of the frame, so you cannot see where he is going. By doing this it adds a sense of suspense because you do not know what he is looking at or where he is going.
This photograph has many lines and which adds detail, and makes the photo very pleasing. There is also framing in this picture. The athlete, Jarryd, is being framed by the treadmill, which draws the viewers attention to him.
I chose this photo as ‘the best photo of 2018’ because it is very inspiring and uplifting. I think it gives hope to others in the world who are facing challenges. It shows people to never give up, and that anything is possible.
